MTV VMA 2020 : Lady Gaga et Ariana Grande en tête des nominations

C'est dans un contexte un peu particulier, crise sanitaire oblige, que se déroulera l'édition 2020 des MTV Video Music Awards. La célèbre cérémonie aura lieu le 30 août prochain depuis le Radio City Music Hall de New York, devant un public restreint qui sera sans doute réduit aux artistes et techniciens nommés cette année. Qui sont-ils ? La liste des nominations est enfin connue et c'est un duo de choc qui surclasse la concurrence : Lady Gaga et Ariana Grande ! Rien qu'avec leur tube "Rain On Me" et son clip futuriste, les deux stars américaines auront sept chances de remporter une statuette en forme de cosmonautes. Lady Gaga en compte deux de plus en tant qu'Artiste de l'année et pour la Meilleure performance en quarantaine - une des deux nouvelles catégories créées pour refléter la situation actuelle - avec "Smile", interprété durant le concert caritatif "One World : Together At Home". Sa benjamine, elle, en ajoute deux mentions grâce à "Stuck With U", son duo avec Justin Bieber.

Billie Eilish et The Weeknd en forme

Lady Gaga et Ariana Grande font-elles un razzia aux MTV VMA 2020 ? Rien n'est moins sûr car la concurrence s'annonce féroce avec Billie Eilish et The Weeknd, qui les suivent de près avec 6 nominations chacun. Les quatre artistes s'affronteront d'ailleurs dans la catégorie-reine de l'année avec "Rain On Me", "Everything I Wanted" et "Blinding Lights", avec "Godzilla" d'Eminem et feu Juice WRLD et "Life Is Good" de Drake et Future pour jouer les arbitres... ou leur voler la victoire ! Dans la catégorie de l'Artiste de l'année, Lady Gaga aura fort à faire face à DaBaby (le tube "Rockstar"), Justin Bieber, qui a signé son grand retour avec l'album "Changes", Megan Thee Stallion, The Weeknd et le roi du streaming Post Malone. Du côté des révélations, Doja Cat ("Say So") devra se défaire de Lewis Capaldi, Jack Harlow, Roddy Ricch (l'auteur de "The Box", nommé en Chanson de l'année), Tate McRae et YUNGBLUD pour espérer l'emporter.

Le groupe phénomène BTS décroche quant à lui un total de trois nominations avec son clip "On", qui pourrait être sacré Meilleure vidéo pop, Meilleure vidéo K-pop et rafler le prix de la Meilleure chorégraphie. Après la divulgation de la liste des nommés aux MTV Video Music Awards, les réseaux sociaux se sont enflammés pour défendre Dua Lipa, absente des catégories principales alors que l'acclamé "Future Nostalgia" fait un carton, mais aussi BLACKPINK ou Selena Gomez, snobées malgré de belles performances dans les charts et des records.
