Palmarès des MTV VMA's 2017 : Kendrick Lamar s'impose devant Ed Sheeran

Comme chaque année, la 34ème cérémonie des MTV Video Music Awards, qui s'est tenue hier soir au forum d'Inglewood en Californie, a récompensé le meilleur des clips musicaux. Mais avec une nouveauté de taille : finies les catégories genrées ! Artistes masculines et féminins se sont affrontés les uns contre les autres, pour la première fois de la création des VMA's en 1984. Avec son sens du spectacle, Katy Perry a présenté l'événement sans se départir de son humour légendaire, osant quelques blagues sur la débâcle du Fyre Festival et contre Donald Trump. En lice dans cinq catégories, la popstar est malheureusement rentrée bredouille de la soirée, tout comme The Weeknd, lui aussi nommé à cinq reprises. Le grand gagnant ? Il s'agit de Kendrick Lamar. Dans une cérémonie à forte connotation politique et militante, entre le discours inspirant de Paris Jackson sur la tolérance et celui - déchirant - de la mère Heather Heyer, tuée par un suprématiste blanc à Charlottesville il y a deux semaines, le rappeur américain a écrasé tout concurrence en raflant pas moins de six trophées grâce à "Humble". « Merci à mon équipe sans qui je ne serai rien » a lancé l'artiste, humblement.

Taylor Swift brille par son absence

Difficile pour les autres nommés de tirer leur épingle du jeu face à ce raz-de-marée. Et pourtant, Ed Sheeran a été sacré Artiste de l'année tandis que le prix de la Meilleure collaboration est revenue à Zayn et Taylor Swift pour "I Don't Wanna Live Forever". Si la chanteuse était absente de la cérémonie, elle a marqué les esprits en dévoilant le clip explosif de son nouveau single "Look What You Made Me Do". Fifth Harmony, twenty one pilots, Zedd et Khalid, élu révélation de l'année, sont eux aussi repartis avec un trophée. A noter que la catégorie du Meilleur combat contre le système, spécialement créée cette année, a récompensé tous les artistes qui y étaient nommés !
